Blog Description

This is a site where you can post graphics created by using celebrity names that have a common meaning in the English language beyond just being the person's name. These meanings might be objects, actions, trades or occupations etc. The idea is to use a play on these words to create a collage picture representing the celebrity's name.

Minnie's Driver

I was lucky to find a caricature of a gal on a golf cart holding up a golf iron. I found an image of Minnie Driver that looked like it would fit the golf cart picture and pasted it over the gals face. I wanted the golf club to be a driver to complete the pun on Minnie's name and to be over large to emphasize the golf club connection. I had to change the coloration of the caricature's flesh because the Minnie picture didn't match. Thank you Minnie, we love you!

Texas Ranger's Walker

In this Celeb Collage Chuck Norris appears to have done as many older actors do, that is become a spokesperson for a product in which senior citizens may have some interest.

I found the face, the body, the badge and the red "Walker" sign at different locations on the web.  The walker was improvised as I couldn't find a picture of a walker with the right proportions for the figure.

Harrison's Ford

In 1932, "Ford Motor Company" came out with a much improved version of its Model A, hence the " Model B" as shown above. In coming up with a pun picture for "Harrison Ford", I settled on a picture of a very nicely restored Model B convertible. I had to flip it to mirror image in order to match the photo of Harrison Ford that I had selected. If you could see the Ford logo on the radiator, you would see that it is backward. The resolution of the photo is too low to allow you to see evidence of my sneakiness. I thought the little Ford fit well with the "Indy" persona of Harrison even though it's early 30's era is not consistent with the World War II time frame of the Indiana Jones films. As for Harrison, I decided to give him the "Indy" look he is so known for. His photo came with the fedora hat, but I had to add the whip and leather jacket.  I added a hint of the pyramids and sphinx (copied from a book jacket) in the background to complete the Indiana Jones flavor.

Grouchy Marxist

In 1960, "Nikita Khrushchev" supposedly banged his shoe on his rostrum before the UN General Assembly in response to a speech by the Philippine delegate.  The shoe incident"has been shown to be false". But it made a good front page news story at the time. A photo of Nikita with a shoe photo-shopped into his right hand has come down to us as a reminder of those cold war days. Here I've taken that photo and put "Groucho Marx's" famous face on it with a Groucho-like (actually a "Henny Youngman" rip-off) comment in the voice bubble. There may be more truth to this version than the original.

Hannah and her blisters

Here I've used the sound alike idea to show "Daryl Hannah" rubbing her blistered feet.  (She may have gotten the blisters walking around New York city barefooted as in her mermaid movie
"Splash".)  The art work for the body was actually of a woman sitting on the toilet.  In addition to replacing the head with Daryl Hannah's, I had to bend the left leg up to accomodate the concept.  Of course the sound alike notion refers to "Woody Allen's" movie
"Hannah and her Sisters".

A Verry Merry Alex

Airborne in a sleigh pulled by eight tiny reindeer this jolly old elf arrives on the roof tops and entering each house through the chimney he leaves presents for the sleeping inhabitants then departs the same way calling out "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night" as he flies away urging his coursers into the midnight sky.

Jack Black of Spades

Here is a familiar face as the Jack of Spades.  With all his crazy and wonderful personas, Jack Black doesn't look at all out of place as the looney face card.

Joey da Bishop

Here's a Joey Bishop collage that I found in a Google image search.  I don't know who created it but it was associated with this joke furnished by Fred Zarguna in a post to www.freerepublic.com on 8/13/2011:
An Episcopal bishop, a Methodist bishop, and a Roman Catholic archbishop walk in to a bar... Smart Alec bartender shouts, "OK, where's the Jewish Bishop?"  Guy over in a booth in the corner says, "That's Joey Bishop. But he's either dead or in Vegas this week."

Reese with her spoon take two

Here's another take on Reese Witherspoon with a "Dora the Explora" kind of look.

Here's a Dan Piraro Strip You Might Like

Dan Piraro does a comic strip, "Bizarro" where he sometimes does take offs on puns which are similar to what we do in this blog. Click here to see his October 2nd 2011 strip.

Vincent's Van Goes

It's a little known fact that Vincent Van Gogh made a few extra francs delivering pizza in the little village of Arles to help support his painting career.

Reese with her spoon

Here is a quick and dirty collage of Reese Witherspoon using Sumo on-line paint program.  I've been looking for a paint program that would be easy to learn and use and that I would make available through a link on this site.  This could be it, I'll try it for a while.  See the links shown in the right column of this page.

Isaac as a moth

Here's what Isaac Asimov might have looked like if he subjected himself to the miniaturizing machine as shown in the 1958 movie "The Fly" and a moth accidentally got into the chamber with him. I don't think Asimov's science fiction was quite in this vane, but he does make a good moth! Apologies to George Langelaan who wrote the original "Fly" and Vincent Price who acted in it.

Another Clark's Gable

Here is another version of Clark's Gable that I created using Google Draw.  Not too fancy, but it works.  This is a rare photo of Clark without his trademark mustache.

More about the site idea

The idea is to use a celebrity name to come up with a collage of graphics from the web that when put together fit the name. You will probably need to use some of your own art work to blend the pieces together.

Clark's Gable

This is a graphic showing Clark Gable's likeness super-imposed on the picture of a roof gable. I brought the two together using Photoshop.  I put a little upper body on Clark to complete the picture.  The caption should read "Clark's Gable". Just a silly play on words coupled with a picture. Now that you see the idea, try one out yourself.

What is this blog about?

This is a site to post graphics created by using celebrity names that have a common meaning in the English language beyond just being the person's name. These meanings might be objects, actions, trades or occupations etc. I will post some examples to get us started.
