Blog Description

This is a site where you can post graphics created by using celebrity names that have a common meaning in the English language beyond just being the person's name. These meanings might be objects, actions, trades or occupations etc. The idea is to use a play on these words to create a collage picture representing the celebrity's name.

Harrison's Ford

In 1932, "Ford Motor Company" came out with a much improved version of its Model A, hence the " Model B" as shown above. In coming up with a pun picture for "Harrison Ford", I settled on a picture of a very nicely restored Model B convertible. I had to flip it to mirror image in order to match the photo of Harrison Ford that I had selected. If you could see the Ford logo on the radiator, you would see that it is backward. The resolution of the photo is too low to allow you to see evidence of my sneakiness. I thought the little Ford fit well with the "Indy" persona of Harrison even though it's early 30's era is not consistent with the World War II time frame of the Indiana Jones films. As for Harrison, I decided to give him the "Indy" look he is so known for. His photo came with the fedora hat, but I had to add the whip and leather jacket.  I added a hint of the pyramids and sphinx (copied from a book jacket) in the background to complete the Indiana Jones flavor.

Grouchy Marxist

In 1960, "Nikita Khrushchev" supposedly banged his shoe on his rostrum before the UN General Assembly in response to a speech by the Philippine delegate.  The shoe incident"has been shown to be false". But it made a good front page news story at the time. A photo of Nikita with a shoe photo-shopped into his right hand has come down to us as a reminder of those cold war days. Here I've taken that photo and put "Groucho Marx's" famous face on it with a Groucho-like (actually a "Henny Youngman" rip-off) comment in the voice bubble. There may be more truth to this version than the original.

Hannah and her blisters

Here I've used the sound alike idea to show "Daryl Hannah" rubbing her blistered feet.  (She may have gotten the blisters walking around New York city barefooted as in her mermaid movie
"Splash".)  The art work for the body was actually of a woman sitting on the toilet.  In addition to replacing the head with Daryl Hannah's, I had to bend the left leg up to accomodate the concept.  Of course the sound alike notion refers to "Woody Allen's" movie
"Hannah and her Sisters".
